1. Can ANY photograph be used?
   In general, the larger the picture that you send to us, the better the quality of the final product will be.  Original pictures have the highest quality.  A picture that has been copied from the original or scanned from a copy will have a lower quality. We are able to do some restoring on older photographs including hiding cracks or getting rid of unwanted shading or objects in the background. If you decide to scan the image yourself, be sure to scan the image at 600 dpi.

2. How does laser engraving work on marble?
   During the engraving process, the laser permanently etches into the marble creating the desired shading effect of the picture and wording as white on the black marble.  The laser is able to achieve a great amount of detail on any material.

3. What materials do NOT work for photographs?
   We do not recommend putting photographs on the glass plate, wood, glass bank and mirror (other than mirror boxes).  Marble will make a photograph show up the best.

4. How soon will I receive my order?
   All orders received with complete and correct information will be shipped within 72 hours.

5. What is the marble that the photograph appears on?
   The marble is called “Absolute Black Marble.” It is approximately ¼” thick and it is imported from China.  It works great for engraving photographs because it does not have many veins.  However, it is a natural stone and slight shading variations may occur.

6. Can the laser engrave color photographs?
   We do use a color photograph, however the end result will be a grayscale image.  The image will adapt to the color of the material that it is being engraved on.

7. Can the marble be used outside?
   Yes, the picture is permanently engraved into the marble.

8. How should I clean the marble?
   We recommend using a soft cloth because the marble can be scratched.  If necessary use water only, no chemicals as they may alter the shading in the etched areas.
